Happy holidays! Can you believe it? We’re already in December! Where has time gone? This year being, well, this year, the holiday season needs to be special. Don’t you think? From the gorgeous lights, to the Christmas trees creating holiday cheer throughout everyone’s homes - it’s just a really special time.
Being coordinators, we’ve done many holiday events! From little get-togethers to large holiday parties, it’s been a whirlwind. This year is a bit quieter because of the pandemic, but we still love to decorate and help others do so!
Here are a few tips on planning a small holiday party, or creating a magical space for you and your family.
1. Lay out ALL decor.
Lay out ALL of your decorations that you have packed up in boxes. This will help you decide the theme for the year, and of course show you what you need to purchase at your local craft store. (Our fave is Hobby Lobby!)
2. Create a budget.
Budgeting is very important during this time of year. With gifts having to be purchased, and this year being, well again, this year… creating a budget will help you determine what you actually want and need in your home.
3. Decide if you’ll have guests over.
Obviously, we need to be careful with having too many people in our homes, BUT if you do decide to host Christmas, or any holiday in your home, make sure to lay out all of your plates, flatware, table decor, etc. to see what you need. Less is more sometimes.
4. Party favors?
Party favors are always a nice touch at each plate, but is it completely necessary? Of course not! But, this is where you can get your creative juices flowing. Do DIY! A gift & a party favor = win win!
The holidays are supposed to be fun and carefree - even though sometimes they can feel daunting and stressful. So just remember, that even if it feels a little stressful, it’ll be over soon. Make the best of it, take our advice, and enjoy the holiday season!
